T.J. Morris Ltd Specification for Supply of Products on Pallets

Background

T.J. Morris Ltd uses an automated Materials Handling System for the transportation and storage of pallets within its Central Distribution Centre (conveyors, lifts, cranes, etc). In order for the System to be able to handle palletised products, the pallets and products need to meet the following specifications:

Pallet Specification

Pallets should be wooden CHEP GKN (blue), LPR (red), or IPP Logipal (brown) pallets (1,200*1,000*162mm). All pallet boards and spacer blocks should be present and undamaged, and nails should not protrude from pallets. Pallets should be dry and clean. White pallets and “Euro” pallets (1,200x800mm) should be avoided where ever possible. See attached CHEP, IPP, and LPR specifications.

Load Dimensions

Maximum height (including pallet): 1,800mm. Stock should be stacked within the confines of the pallet, with a maximum lean of 50mm.

Pallet Specification

Maximum Weight

Maximum weight of loaded pallet (including pallet): 1,200kg, regardless of maximum Safe Working Load of individual pallet.

Stock on Pallet

Stock on pallet should be secure and stable. Pallet should be stretch wrapped, with clear wrap, to keep stock on pallet secure when it is being transported. There should be no loose trailing ends from the stretch wrap. Only one type of product should be on each pallet, and no part cases are allowed. The number of cases on each pallet should be the same, bar, if necessary, the last pallet. All pallets should be stacked the same way.

Double Stacked Pallets

It is acceptable to double stack pallets with each pallet wrapped separately. In this case, the maximum height for each pallet is 1,640mm (3,280mm maximum height for both pallets). Double stacking pallets must not cause damage to the stock on the bottom pallet in any way.
